Default peugeot broken fob

had some free time today so decided to investigate our intermitant key fob.

fob sometimes works but mostly will only work if held up hard against ignition barrel

so i open it up and have a poke around, and test the arial continuity as best i can, all seems good,

(the arial is the track that goes round the edge of the pcb on both sides of board)

put it back together and found a good clear signal on my old fm radio (approx 94mhz??) and car opens, but after a few more presses
signal gets weak and short and car no longer opens.

so investigate further and as far as i can see the arial comes from one of the legs of the chip, but under the chip so dont know which one.
and what is happening is pressing the buttons is bending the pcb slightly and caused a crack or dry joint.

ideally the chip needs to be removed and resoldered, or maby chip arial leg shorted to arial track, i cant do this as only have one fob
and dont want to risk breaking it as its some delicate work.

so next best option for me is i have packed the fob case part below the battery with kitchen roll, anything to rest on the chip and stop buttons bending the board should work.

this is only for fobs that only work next to the ignition barrel (original fob)

if i open the fob again i will hardwire a battery put approx 3 inches of wire on a pin and test each leg of the chip to try and identify the antenna leg.

Hi mate, so is it working now you have done this? If so any chance you could send a pic over. I have 2 fobs that only work right next to the barrel and would love to get them working.

the fob is working fine with the board supported so dont want to open it back up, but when it does start playing up again i will have a mess.

in short, it looks like the antenna track feed on the pcb is splitting somwhere because of the board bending when buttons are pressed.

when it goes again i will investigate further,

I had this problem with a C2 last month. I changed the comms unit but the fault was still there. I had opened the key but couldnt see any cracks or issues on the board.

This seller on ebay sorted my issue out

As said above the solder on the chip needs reflowing or the micro switches need changing

I'd try spraying electrical contact ceaner into the switches and operating them a few times first.

I just buy a new key: https://m.banggood.com/Remote-Key-ID...l?rmmds=search for a few pounds and program it in. The blade can be swapped or the circuit board swapped depending the the condition of the case. Obviously you need the security code and Planet. Had no issues with any of they keys I've bought from the link above.

Sorry have to do this my typonese is driving me nuts ...

Arial is a FONT for writing on computers

Aerial is the thing your using to send radio waves out from your key fobs.

Again sorry for me correcting this but the amount of uses of the wrong Arial was driving me nuts.

Sorry for correcting you but it should be 'you're' as in 'you are' not 'your'. 😉
