Default Peugeot 207 oil problem

Hello,
I've bought a Peugeot 207 1.6 16v, year 2007 petrol, automatic, sport. Bought the car 2 months ago, apparently in great conditions. All the stamps for Peugeot service, one owner. 88k miles. 3 weeks after "Check oil level" message came on the screen. Went with my car to a mechanic who is specialist in french cars, had a general check, put the car on the tester, nothing serious came, at the end he just changed some light bulbs and top up some oil 1L. But today the message came again, after 3 weeks of top up. Is it normal? Last time when oil was change on my car was this year in July. I am really concern, is it normal? im doing around 150 miles per week.

Have you checked the Oil it is normal for Engines to use about a pint for every 500 miles and some Peugeot Engines use a lot more than this Heard that the one in the Mini uses quite a lot in fact

Hi, i've just checked my oil level, it looks low. I will try to upload a pics. From the last top up 3 weeks ago ive done more 400 miles. Still strange for me, this is my first car i'm not familiar with this kind of problems. But ive spoke with people they rarely are doing top ups. Thanks for help

you want the oil to be closer to 'top' ring, but anywhere between the two should be ok. is it a chain driven engine? all the VTI engines are chain driven and keeping the oil topped up helps to cool the chain, something which should help it last longer.

the VTI engines (including the 1.6THP like i have, same engine as the mini as mentioned above) uses about a litre per 1000 miles. this is 'normal'. its the poor PCV design of all the VTI engines.

if you change your oil, you'll notice oil burn reduce significantly for a few weeks as the oil doesnt vaporise as easily, which is how it is burned through the PCV/intake system

if it isnt leaving drips on your driveway i wouldnt worry too much, just keep an eye on it
