Default Peugeot 207 loom under air fliter & in front of batter perrished

While driving home yesterday my car just died.
I had it towed home & started checking everything this morning.
I am no guru when it comes to these new cars I have disconnected the battery & am checking everything carefully.
I have managed to get the pp2000 cable & software but am battling to find an old laptop to run the software on. does anybody know which is the best virtual machine to run it on if you have windows 10?

When I removed by battery & air filter I saw all the wires on one loom exposed & cloth tape shredded on the other.
Does anybody know what would cause this?
Could it be heat for chaffing?

I have had great success using VMWare Player (free) and XP SP3 to run PP2000 under Win10. When installing PP, do not plug the interface into the USB port until prompted, and say no to any offer to update on line.

There is a special procedure for disconnecting and reconnecting the battery - here.

As to the loom coverings, perhaps a previous owner has been fault-finding?

Thanks Ian, I'll give the MV maleware a try.

I don't think the previous owner worked on the car, she took it to peugeot for all her services.
