I had this same issue. Timing was way out. 550 I paid to get me back on the road. If I was in your situation I'd be taking it back for a refund.

What engine is it?

if your lucky it will just be a faulty or dirty solenoid, and a easy job to swap.

may also need a new cam sensor on exhaust side.

if unlucky you may need a new chain and all the bits that go with it.

As advised, just taken it back, get a refund. You're entitled to one within 30 days under consumer contract law. Don't drive it other than to take it back. If you paid using credit (either finance or a credit card) and the dealer is being shifty then get the credit company involved as they are jointly liable under section 75 of the consumer credit act.

As above. Please take the car back for a full refund. Dont let them fob you off just state your rights, get your money and go somewhere else.

Agree, return and refund. Any dealer that "fixes" problems by turning off the EML isn't worth touching.

Thank you,, the car was in with them getting fixed, yesterday they only put 2 new sensors on the car,, drove it this morning and now there is fumes coming from it, nearly passed out.. It a 1.4 petrol. Getting a solicitor involved, hopefully will get all of my money back.

Do you need to waste money on a solicitor? Surely just return the car stating consumer rights act. And if they don't refund then start a money claim online?
