Default HDI limp mode and engine light

I have a 207 1.6 HDI and since I've had it (June 2014) there's been problems with the EGR valve and the MAP sensor which I've had replaced. I've been told there's also a turbo fault where the variable element is sticking but at 500 I can't really afford to have it fixed at the moment.

A couple of weeks back the engine management light came on whilst I was on the motorway, having completed 60-70 miles of my journey and the car went into limp mode. I took it to the garage where I was told it was a failed DPF regen, so I had the fluid topped up to avoid any further problems. Having done 20 miles or so in 3rd on the motorway I would have thought the DPF would have cleared.

This morning, I took the car to work and on the motorway whilst accelerating the engine management light came on again. This normally happens if I accelerate hard due to the turbo fault but I noticed the fuel consumption was unusually night (30-40mpg instead of 60-70mpg) and that the car had gone into limp mode. Limp mode had stopped when I restarted the engine, but obviously something isn't right in the engine.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this, or any previous experience of similar problems? I'm worried about starting a wild goose chase to identify the problem!
