are you saying that when you slow down the engine revs high making gear selection hard or just its hard to get into gear at any time?

if its just hard to find gears a clutch center would be the best to check it for you as they know what they are looking for.

but if its over reving on slowdown could be loads of things vacume leak or even a dodgy throttle potentiometer.

had it on diagnostic? any codes?

There's a bracket on top which comes loose, also driveshaft seals leak and when it gets low on oil makes changes difficult.

Only use peugeot seals and oil from dealer, peugeot have modified one of the seals.

If it's not too late that should fix your problem.
