Default Gasoline Particulate Filter

Hi,

As GPF's appear to be the future can anyone confirm how these regenerate? We have avoided diesel cars in the past because our usage wouldn't allow for a proper DPF regeneration cycle to complete. Are we likely to face the same issue with a GPF?

As the exhaust gas temperatures are higher, the soot particles on the filter are continually burned off by the hot exhaust gas from the combustion chamber. Hence, vehicles having these new exhaust systems will not need active regeneration as in the case of conventional diesel vehicles.

I'm still reading as I too would like to know, but at least from what I have read it does not sound to be too much of a problem.

Some PSA specific information on the GPF:

https://www.groupe-psa.com/en/newsro...topropulseurs/
Green Car Congress: PSA Group fitting gasoline particulate filters on all GDI engines from December 2017

Basically these say that in December 2017 all PSA GDI engines will be equipped with a GPF. Also, the 1.6 BlueHDI 120 engine will be replaced with a 1.5 BlueHDI 130.

EAT6 transmission will be replaced with an EAT8 and there will be a new 6-speed manual gearbox.
