Default COMM unit replacement

Hi,

I've just been informed by a Peugeot main dealer that the COMM unit (indicator and wiper controls) needs to be replaced on my wife's 207cc (2007), the wipers don't always work and the washer isn't working at all.
They want 400 to replace it and say that the BSI needs to be reprogrammed if you fit a new COMM unit.
Is this true?
I can get a genuine replacement for around 100 on eBay and would be able to fit it myself, but obviously can't mess about with the BSI.
Any thoughts or advice welcome.
Cheers.

Not as far as I am aware and I had mine replaced last year, the steering wheel angle sensor needs to be set normally but not programmed to the BSI.

If you fit an exact replacement you shouldn't need to reprogram anything.

Just make sure you match the part number from you old one. Should be on a white label under the cowling.

Maybe if you fit one with different functions, you would need to adjust the bsi.

Remember to be careful of the airbag if you've not done anything like this before.

Default Which is the right unit

Without removing the steering wheel and checking stickers on the comms unit, is there any way that I can find out which is the correct part number for the car?

I believe as long as the stalks are the same ( rear wash/wipe, front fogs, auto lights, trip computer etc ) and the replacement comms is from a car the same age then it will be fine.

Trustme, a member on here, is the chap that fixes the comms units and I am a happy customer

I'm not sure that member is fixing them anymore... Was speaking to them recently.

Default 6242R7 or 6242.R7

Turns out that the part (6242R7) is 323.16 ... !!!

It appears to be an unusual part, because of the differences in controls between a CC and a hardtop, so there aren't many 'old stock' cheaper options around.

Trawling the web to find a replacement; cheapest I can find is 150 reconditioned.

Waiting to hear back from Graeme.
