Default Clunking Air Con

Hi all
My 207 has an air con issue
When first starting the air con causes a huge clunk from somewhere under the bonnet which shakes the whole engine! It almost seems as if the engine is going to cut out. It does it until you put any revs on. It doesn't seem to do it when travelling. Could it be that the revs are set too low? Or the battery? Any help with this would be appreciated.

I'd suspect the Air Con pump is partially seized and the clumk / near stalling will be wjen the pump clutch energises locking the freewheeling pulley to the pump rotor. The pump being tight would put a heavier than normal load on the engine but possibly frees up a little when the lubricant in the gas starts to circulate.
