Default belt or chain and temperature sensor

Hi

I've recently acquired a 57 plate 207cc GT 1.6 16v. I'm a bit confused about 2 things.

1. Does the engine have a timing belt or chain?
2. Is the temperature sensor in the thermostat or is it a separate conection in the engine block?

Thanks

have same car, and i can say that it definitely has got a Chain timing belt as i have had the top cover off exposing this so can guarantee it, not sure about the sensor though.

Hi had my chain off and replaced there is no sensor. One cog at the bottom at the back of the crank, and one at the top plus the tritronic cog(or what ever its called).

Temperature sensor is in the thermostat housing, left hand side.

Thermostat is part 10 in the housing A as seen here.

Two possibilities - early versions have a non-removable temp sensor and you have to replace the whole assembly or later ones where the sensor is held in by a clip and o-ring.
