Default About to buy, what to watch out for?

Hi all.

Off to look at a 207 this afternoon to buy for the missus. Not had much experience with Peugeot's before. Can anybody give me any tips on key things I need to look out for on these models? Anything will be appreciated!

Peugeot 207 1.4 S (90) 2006, Petrol, 5 Dr, Manual, 73k

Many thanks!

Not sure if this model has a belt or chain but either way i'd be checking if it's been replaced and if yes i'd ask to see reciepts (as i found to my cost ) if it hasn't been done then i'd factor this in to your budget as at that age and mileage it probably needs changing.

Also just some other tips make sure you try and check everything is working as it should e.g remote key fob, cigarette lighter etc. check as much as you can think of before you buy.

Mechanically wise i am clueless but sure someone else can give you some advice.

Is it private sale or trade?

Apparently the dealer has proof that the cambelt was changed in 2015 so approx. @ 60k miles. Cheers mate.

Ok. If you have reg you can have a look at mot history online for free, maybe see if it has some advisories that might have to be looked at? and try and knock them down on the price as much as you can :-)

Had a quick look earlier at that, all seems pretty good, no advisories on the latest MOT although it did fail on spring first time round, really not concerned about springs as there cheap wear and tear fixes.

I've read somewhere how the ECU can suffer from water ingress through a coolant sensor and can be a costly repair, any idea as where this sensor is located so I can inspect? Is there anyway to reduce the risk of this happening in the future?

Thanks

Water ingress can happen from 2 places the coolant sensor AND the windscreen washer pump if there is water ingress in ANY of the wiring i would steer clear its not always easy to fix to be honest.

Easiest way to check is disconnect the wiring harness from engine to ecu check for green shit

Also check the fusebox under bonnet for green shit.

They dont ALL suffer from it seems some are fine no idea why.
