Default 207 - washer not working...long story and HELP!!

Hi, hope you are able to help here...last week my washer wasn't working (no sound of pump working at all). This then lead onto all sorts of things happening, first was my wipers coming on and lights on when I had left the car and locked it. Then when I started it up had ABS, brake fault and ultimately STOP. Then the car wouldn't start at all. It did start after 15 mins and I drove to the garage where they decided to change the under bonnet fuse box. This has cured the wipers/lights going and also the messages about the brakes and ABS. However, the washer pump is still not working. He has cleaned all the earth wires etc. I have a 2008 year 207 1.4 VTI

Do I need to take it to an electrics specialist or could it be the stalk??

Meanwhile, I have paid out for a new fuse box which Peugeot are refusing to acknowledge and pay for. I said there was a known fault with the year of manufacture and also a known fault but they are not budging on this

Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

I've had a problem which sounds very similar on my 207. I'll briefly describe what happened in case it helps you at all.

I have a diesel 207 and it's year 2011. I had a failure of the washer pump which then leaked water into the engine bay wiring loom. The water from the washer bottle went right through the wiring loom to the engine bay fuse box. At that point I had various errors including loss of power steering, loss of ABS, speedo not working and also some lights not working. The engine management light was illuminated on the dashboard as well. This sounds similar but not absolutely identical to what you describe. I certainly didn't have lights and wipers on when they shouldn't be.

My car was repaired at a main Peugeot dealer where they replaced the fuse box (which got very wet inside), the wiring loom (the contacts in the connector that plugs into the fuse box were severely damaged beyond repair and Peugeot said the whole loom needed replacement) and the washer pump. I seem to recall the total cost was about 2600 most of which was for the wiring loom and labour to fit it. The Peugeot dealer contacted Peugeot and managed to agree a large discount for me of about 1300 (50%) I think it was. I then contacted Peugeot myself once the car was fixed and they refunded me the rest of the bill so two months after the repair I had recovered the total cost of the repair. The Peugeot dealer I used did tell me they'd seen and repaired the same damage on other customers 207 cars but they wouldn't tell me how many times.

Thanks for your reply. When I was at the garage they had just had a similar problem with a 2011 model and they replaced the fuse box on that one. When I then came in with similar problems. They thought best start with that. It has sorted all the other electrical problems but I still do not have the washer working - there is power there, there is a new pump but still nothing!

I have contacted Peugeot head office who say if warranty has expired then basically not their problem! I have checked the government recall and my year car is listed but Peugeot are saying to me my car was not affected but obviously it is. I do not know what to do about this as I am currently 300 down with still a problem (plus my mot due by 26 Nov!!).

does both rear wash and front wash not work?
if you spray the front does it wipe as though it has sprayed?
if you spray the back does it wipe as though it has sprayed?

Partner checked with multimeter today and front washer was 12.34v and rear washer was 12.28v. There is power there, the pump is working as he tried that too but when reconnected it is still not working! He tried it with the engine off.

Do we now take it to an autoelectrician? Or any other suggestions please.

Thanks

if you are getting 12v both was then sounds like a problems with bsi as it should be +12v one way and -12v other way eg +12v for front and -12v for back or the other way round, i would try another pump still though as they are a common part to go faulty
