207 HDI Number plate lights!
I'm new so please excuse the poor post / if its been repeated before (i have tried to look).
I have a 207 hdi 1.6 (2007 model 110bhp) I have tried to replace the number plate bulbs with LED ones, however the bulbs permanently stay on and there is a warning on the centre console screen saying "side light fault". Would anyone be able to assit?
Cheers in advance

The problem with LED bulbs is that they don't function in the same way as an incandescent bulb. In that the voltage to earth is a lot higher thru an LED than a standard incandescent. This can normally "short" out a circuit, leaking power to earth that then illuminates unwanted lights. At least I think that is how I understand it.
Have you replaced any other bulbs with LED such as tail lights?
If not - I am unclear as to why you are getting your problem, but more expensive car LED come with built in circuitry to better mimic an incandescent bulb, normally with a resister in circuit.
A quick check on Google will reveal a lot. I would also hope someone with greater knowledge than me will answer this too!
