Question 207 electrical operating / fuse box fault

hi
We have a 58 plate, 207 with just 58000 on the clock and been well looked after, however, due to recent problems we have been advised that water has got into the fuse box cashing electrical failure and it's now unsafe to drive. Our local Peugeot garage in Goole have advise they will fund the labour costs for repair but we would need to pay 1300 for a new fuse box or they suggest we trade in. Im concerned as a female owner that this advice might not be correct given the recall for this model and they're trying it in with us.
Any advice / guidance from others who may have experienced similar and whether what we are being told about having to pay ourselves for a manufacturing fault is right given the recall ?

I don't think a fuse box costs 1,300 and I am wondering why your dealer is offering to fund the labour costs on a 7 year old car. I think I would be inclined to contact Peugeot Customer Services and ask them whether the dealer is advising you correctly. If you have owned the car from new and always had it serviced by Peugeot dealers they may be sympathetic.

Sorry, should have said it's the fuse box and wiring loom?! They asked if we'd changed the washer unit recently which we haven't.
Tend to agree having trawled through VOSA site and other forums that we need to take it up with their customer contact centre / complaints. It did seem odd that they'd pay part costs as a"good will gesture".

Yes, seems this is a common problem as reported elsewhere in this forum and also on Honest John.

Definitely worth approaching Peugeot Customer Services and let them know you understand that this is a known problem with the 207.
