Default 207 CC 1.6GT Rattle when revving (And lacking power)

Just recently purchased a 207 CC 1.6GT and it feels like the car is down on power and when revved (When the car is stationary or moving with the clutch depressed), I hear a rattle coming from the top of the engine near to the air filter.

Does anybody know what this is? From what I've read, it could be the timing chain and tensioner. Could this be the reason why it's down on power too?

Anything else I should check?

Many thanks

Nick

Well the problem was resolved...just in case anybody has a similar issue in the future!!!

It turned out to be a replacement of the exhaust dephaser and new timing chain/kit that was needed!

Runs sweet as a nut now
