Default 1.6Hdi Fuel pressure P0087

The car normally is a good starter, but recently shes starts then cuts out. I did think that id stalled it,but this has now happened a few times and its becoming increasingly harder to start.

I had to get a breakdown truck out yesterday who have run basic diagnostics and have highlighted P0087 Fuel Rail / System Pressure too low.
P1351 Manufacturers code. He reported the fuel pressure should be 30psi, but im only getting 24.

I took the car to a local guy who does the jobs that i cant do, but he has advised i go to a diesel specialist.

Before I do so, please can anyone advise if theres any easy checks/ services i can do first.

For info, and ironically, i was going to post that the car had behaved impeccably on a 1300mile return trip to Cornwall, with average MPG of 54 roof down 70mph cruising

Does it have a fuel filter? When was it last changed?
I know the 2.0 407 does but not sure about others.

Thanks xlineiain.

Im not sure if it has a fuel filter, i will check tomorrow and intend to replace it and the pollen filter.

The breakdown guy reckoned it was high pressure area rather than low pressure buts worth doing.

As it happens the car is now starting fine, but i need peace of mind
