Default 1.6 hdi gt (turbo play)

Hi all, i serviced my pug 207 1.6 hdi gt the other night. I popped off the pipe goin from the turbo to the airbox off and noticed there was a bit of play in the shaft of the turbo. Is this normal? Theres no bits missing off the fan or any marks and it turns fine, no smoke either. But it does sound like a police siren when driving. The cars done 89000 miles

A bit of play is fine as once the engine is running this play is taken up by the oil pressure the turbo has no real bearing it just floats on oil so if the engine is off the oil drains away and you feel some play.

There is no specified amount of play ie 1mm etc a little is fine a lot then your turbo is stuffed if you had ever seen a stuffed turbo you would know what a lot is

some turbos just whistle but it may also be a slight boost leak somewhere hard to say without being there to hear it.

Tge pipe that goes from the compressor side of the turbo to the intercooler, and the pipe that goes from the ic to the inlet

Look for cracks/splits in the pipe or spray wd40 on and run the engine and look for bubbles
