Default 206 noob signing on

Hello all,

I've just joined and wanted to say hi.

Just bought my first 206, it's an '05 206 1.4hdi.
Bought this as I have a Land Rover Discovery 2 which I was toying with selling, but as it's my hobby vehicle, the mrs and I decided I should keep it, so as she as a Ford Kuga, decided to downsize my VW passat estate to something more economical and cheaper to live with.

So far, I'm not disappointed!!! Tax is obviously nice and cheap, fuel......I bought the car with 14/ of a tank, topped up to between 1/2 and 3/4 of a tank, 220 miles later, between 1/4 and 1/2 full. On top of that, it's a fun little car to drive.

My previous experience with a Pug was an old 309 1.9 diesel (non turbo). Whilst it would never set the world alight in terms of performance, it was a not car to drive and great for commuting, so had a feeling my 206 would be a good option.
Just thought........I had an old 306 1.6Xs too!!! Good little car, although felt a tad gutless after my VW Corrado

So......., what have your experiences in a 206 been like? What's it like to live with in the winter (should we have snow)?

Cheers,

Ian

Welcome to the forum, as you will find if have a look around there are a few known issues with the 206 but no more so than any other car and if well maintained (regular oil and filter changes etc) the 1.4 hdi is quite a reliable engine

Yeah, got quite a good one I think. 85k on the clock, full service history, last service at 77k, and timing belt changed on the 64-66k service. Bodywork is spotless and runs really well.

I'll have a look through regarding faults. That said, I do own a Land Rover

206 in snow is fine, the ABS on this age of 206 works perfectly / isn't confused by snow.

Welcome. I'm fairly new to the 206 too, the first one I've owned in 18 Peugeots over 30 years!

Its a good little car, plenty of power. Only two things I don't like are the lack of steering wheel reach, and the wipers are on the wrong way!

Nice looking motor!! Mine's a 5 door, same colour. I'd say it could do with a little more leg room, but for a small car, it's not too bad. I definitely agree with you on the windscreen wipers, but that's the French for ya!!

My sister's ex (and father to my nieces) used to work at the plant that produced the 206 in Coventry. I may just ask him who's bright idea it was to not put the wipers on the correct way!!

Hi and welcome to the forum!

A fellow 206 owner here, I've got a 2004 1.4 petrol 5 door. So far I've been very impressed with the drive quality and the equipment levels considering the age of the cars. Far from luxurious, but it's proven us to be practical, compact, yet surprisingly spacious on the inside.

Hope you enjoy the car as much as we do

WELCOME! I too have a 3dr 206 1.4hdi (06 plate) and a Disco II. My 206 so far has been getting me 55-60mpg at minimum but on log journeys been getting great economy. Also 30 a year road tax is fab. My mate had a 1.9 306xnd fee years back which was a great car for economy, all be it slow as a slug and falling apart haha
