Question 2008 Outdoor Stop/Start

I'm mystified why when I come to a stop .........coasting below 20kph, the engine stops.
But
If I don't manage to switch the ignition off BEFORE TBH opens her door, the engine RESTARTS.
To me it's amazing that an engine can be STARTED by opening the passenger's door.
Seems crazy.

Why is it crazy, If the passenger leaves the vehicle but not the driver then it seems reasonable to assume the driver is going on somewhere else. Be very usefull if it is used as a taxi.

Well out here you wouldn't think of it as predominantly a taxi, but I guess that explains it.
Would a BMW/Merc/Audi do it also?.
