My peugeot 107 on a 13 reg plate.
The car would not start one day.
I put a jump starter on it and it started fine, so guessing it might be the battery I bought a new one.
Within a couple of days of fitting a new battery it done the same, so I done a test with my amp meter and found that there was 3 amps being drawn from the battery when the car was turned off and keys removed .
By removing all the fuses one at a time I located the power drain was through a 50 amp fuse that is for the power steering.
I done a bit of research and was wondering if anybody else has had a similar problem in that it might be the power steering ECU.
To test this I put the car into a local garage Who are quite trustworthy and they had the car for a week and said that they could not find a fault and it started every day without a problem.
Since getting the car back from the garage it ran and started daily without any issues at all, then without warning the fault has returned.
The car seems to start in the morning time but then it won't start during the day.
I have tested the battery again and it is showing fully charged but the car will only start when I use a jump starter pack.
Just wondering if anybody has had a similar problem or if anybody can point me in the right direction as what to try next.

If you are sure that you have a 3amp parasitic drain(which definately shouldnt be there!!) then that battery would be well down pretty much all the time - it would have problems cranking both morning and evening and especially in the long night lay-over so Im a bit perplexed with the symptoms. I would discount the starting and charging system(if you have done the basic checks) even though it seems a jumper-pack cures the problem - this may be a red-herring. Check the soundness of all your earths and connections, power steering, everything you can get to. After that then you may have to go down the "change the cheapest part first" route but you can only do this if you are confident you have verified the condition of the wiring joining those parts together so spend a good few hours doing the basics. Have you had a Planet session yet? It may be your best starting point. No punn intended..
