Angry Problems with Actuator?

Hey Guys,

I recently bought a used 107 for my wife. This is 2008 auto and 170K kilometer driven. I recently had a transmission warning and the car was stuck on N gear. After few minutes I could (after turning engine off and on) drive the car without a problem. This happend couple of time.

I changed the clutch as per the suggestion from the dealer, but now I'm still having issues. I don't have transmission warning light but gear randomly gets stuck in 2 nd gear. When I off the car and restart after few minutes every thing works as normal.

Anybody have any idea what is going on. Thanks in advance.

We also have a 2008 Aygo with MMT and it's actuator failed much earlier on and it had the same symptom as yours. Toyota tried to re adjust it and it never worked so they ended up changing the actuator and few years since the change it is still working well. The clutch has nothing to do with the symptom. I wonder if the peugeot garage is well versed with the MMT gear box if they change the wrong thing! By the way, 170K on your car is really good before the actuator fails. Ours failed at 35K!

Thanks. Do you know how much it cost to replace actuator?

First of all, your dealer should have run diagnostics on it as there are specific fault codes relating to MMT problems which would most likely have avoided an unnecessary clutch replacement. As we say time and time again on here, run full diagnostics first - the cost of it even at main dealer prices may save you a lot of time and money as seems to be the case here. Technology actually helps the customer to avoid costly garage trial-and-error methods, its actually empowering the customer who used to get taken for a long and expensive ride by unscrupulous garages.
I would take it somewhere else, run diagnostics, fix it(actuator pretty much for certain although it may be a multi-plug problem rather than an internal failure), get the diagnostics print out and depending on how much front you,ve got, take it to the original dealer and ask why THEY didnt do this..
