Default New 107 owner looking for help

Hello,

Currently have a Peugeot 307 and due to a change in my job my partner and I have to look at getting a second car. After we had a 107 as a courtesy car a few years back, we're going to go for one of these as our second car.

Getting a 1.0 Urban 57 plate that has done 34,000 miles and a 5 door. one lady owner and luckily know her and know she hasn't driven it hard getting it for 3000 which looking at auto trader and the like is quite a good price for the miles. Never had a service so will be getting that done.

Just wondered if there are any common problems with these little gems and also when the cam belt needs to be replaced. Been looking at the accessories you can get too and the glove box lid looks a good idea. Any other bits of information would be great

1.0 107 has chain drive Toyota 3 cylinder so no cam belt.

Early ones did have a weak clutch and some suffer with water leaks. Other than that I believe they are good little motors my misses loves her's

Yours will be one of the last Phase I cars with the old 180mm clutch. The clutch is ok, but has zero capacity for abuse so new drivers and blue rinsers - the 107s biggest market - tend to kill them quickly. Fortunately, the stronger 190 mm clutch from later models slips straight in and isn't expensive, about 250 fitted.

The other main weak point is cabin water ingress, but there's a guide on this forum to easily curing that. Provided its been looked after they don't rust or break.

There is no cam belt, and the chain is bullet proof.
