Default super bouncy ride please advise.

hi all ive just bought a wee pug 106 diesel for a second car to commute and get good mpg
2002 diesel totally standard 5 door.

on driving it home from buying it the suspension is overly bouncy to the point im getting sea sick lol.
when i stopped i tried to bounce rear of the car but its completely solid.
i dont want to be bouncing about in my seat all day long i need help..

do you think it could be as simple as rear shocks?
there is a bit of a clunk on rear as well over larger bumps but very bouncy in my seat?
advice welcome.. regards steve

If its solid and clunks often find rear beam bearings are shot. Often cheaper to replace with second hand unit.

Default update

i had a rear shock off this morning and there was still resistance in it.
as soon as i started jacking the car up wheel went up straight away no movement at all in the wheel up or down even with the shock off.
does this mean my rear beam is seized? is this a costly thing?.
regards steve

pressuming it is the rear beam/axle bearings am i better to get a garage to replace bearings or go down the route of a second hand axle and change it over?
would there be much of a price difference between the two?

You can get a refurbed axle for around 300, search the 206 section, there is loads in there. Its a simple job and wont take long to do on a driveway.
Your best of gettin a refurbed axle as any second hand unit may fail within weeks
