Default Anyone good with electrics?

Hi I hope someone can help me. I have a 2000 106 zest 1.1. The rev counter has stopped working, the hand brake warning light won't go off and the fuel guage has starting moving about while driving.

I read that the printed circuit boards in the instrument cluster give bother so I got a second hand unit from a scrap yard. They worked fine for a day then the exact same problem occurred. I have got another set of clocks but again the same thing is happening.

I have removed the dash board to check wiring but I'm useless with wiring diagrams. From my Haynes manual I think a wire runs from my engine ECU (pin 21) to the yellow plug that goes into the instruments (pin 1) and into the rev counter. My multi meter isn't getting any resistance between these pins. I am unsure if these are the right pins though as my Haynes manual says Bosch MA 3.0 ECU but my car has a Bosch MA 3.1.

Also the car had a bit of an oil leak and oil ran down the front of the engine over the RPM sensor. I cleaned the sensor and plug and fixed the leak. Dunno if this has caused the problem or not.

Anyone any ideas?

A failing battery or alternator can also cause similar symptoms. Maybe worth getting them checked out. Failing that get a planet diagnostic done.

Peugeot Planet diagnostic software. It is dealer level diagnostic equipment. If you search the FAQ for new members it will all become clear. What is your location.

Have a look through this. There may be a couple of members in your area who have the equipment, who may help you out for a few beer tokens
