Default Ah bollocks....

Having just driven over 200 miles from home, Coleraine N.Ireland, to Lancaster England, 100yds from my sister-in-laws house, I get the message ENGINE SYSTEM SERVICE REQUIRED on the dash! Balls.... any ideas? Saying as I'm now far from home...

Try resetting by placing the key in position one then holding trip odometer and move the key to position 2 and waited for the beep and message to go away ,

if not then there`s something wrong and you`ll need it on diag

Yep thats about right Martin.

Turn ignition key to position I
Press and hold odemeter reset button
Turn ignition key to position II (do not crank the engine)
Wait for service indicator to blink (apprx 30 seconds)
Release odemeter reset button
Turn ignition key to position I

I'm back....! Cheers guys but it's a different message. Just arrived back home there now, in the volvo, in one piece! phew, only just regained access to an internet! Going to get codes read in morning.
