Unusual Question

This is something you probably don't get asked everyday but...
Well, I've got a Boxer (SWB), in the process of installing £500 worth of stereo (headunit, amp, sub, speakers, cabling) and I've got a Nitrous Oxide kit that I bought for my Audi A6 but it hasn't worked out! So I thought I might, maybe install to to my van... for a bit of a laugh! It's a 2.0 HDI if that helps.
Just wondering if anyone had done anything similar, has any experience or could give me any tips... on the nitrous... and if you've got a progressive controller thingie, get in touch on my e-mail.

No point puting no2 on a derv, you need water/methanol.

Its possible to have NOS on diesels (5th gear did it with an old golf)

However i dont know if its different for the HDI's because of the amounts of pressure used

Best off having a specialist looking at it if you really fancy doing it, and if you do make sure you post the results back here!!!

Serious, water methanol is the only way to go in a diesel, i tune diesels day in day out and have a part in tuning a 306 hdi to 165bhp.

Just out of interest how have you pushed up the BHP that high?

and what was it to start?

92bhp standard.

Its not been too hard to be honest, for starters theres the clutch which has to be upgraded (helix clutch - although its a bit stiff, keeps snapping cables), some serious mapping, fmic setup and boost adusted, then water/methanol and straight through exhaust with just one free flowing box to keep the noise levels down.

Not really much upgraded apart from the above, the main increases were the mapping which i didnt have a part in playing with as i tend to leave the mapping to people who know what they are doing - especially with this amount of power.

May 2009 issue of Performance french car magazine (one with the v8 twingo on the cover), have a nosey on page 78 which is readers rides, you want chris millars 306 hdi dturbo.

Bottom two lines are BHP, top two are torque, the water/methanol doesnt really make much difference in this instance, mainly due to the size of the intercooler, and also the engine in the van would be a hdi110.

Also, the drop in torque is a bit of a pain, thats down to the MAF sensor being damaged - obviously this causes a lot of smoke too, if the MAF was fine you could expect the torque to pull round to about 3500rpm before it starts to drop off. This thing genuinely spins up in 3rd gear, 4th just gives clutch slip.

Maybe I can jump in here regarding water injection. I'm converting a 2ltr Turbodiesel to run on straight veg oil, and due to the possibility of coking on the pistons, was considering water injection as well.
It will be running with an intercooler mounted on top (similar to troopers), but just wondered what the effects of charge cooling with water would be ?

Interesting as to the exhaust information you gave - getting it breathing correctly.

So you want to fit a charge cooler or W/M?

Sorry, not been on for a while. I have heard something about water injection... If you've got any links?

I'd also like some info on wheels, wot will fit and all that stuff. It's a Boxer 290 and while I would like to improve the ride/handling, I also still want to keep it working as a van... just better! I do realise this involves steering, suspenision, braking and so on but I just want to try and achieve a nicer ride at not too much of a cost!

Anyone wanna swap a Brand New Nitrous kit for Water Injection?
