Anyone know if steering rack seals are available for Boxer, only done 44000mls so don't thing there will be a lot of wear in the rack

Yes they are available.
There were plenty on the bay last time I looked (new too) for about £140. If its the same rack as the expert rack, there are other online companies that sell them too for tidy prices, as this (premature rack failure) is a known common fault on these vans (expert) of a certain chassis number they are a popular part. Dont go to the dealership/manufacturer though they want £600 + for a new one! That said Ive had experts now a 99 with 118000 miles and my current 04 with 50000 miles and never had any rack problems. Does yours definately have a dodgy rack? Id get it checked by a reputable garage first, just in case its something a lot less severe. Last edited by welshspark; 09-22-2009 at 10:29 AM. |
