Default Peugeot Partner 1.6 hdi - faulty turbo

Hi every body.
I need some help !!!
I bought a Partner 1.6 hdi about 6 m ago. Now the turbo charger is faulty. The bearing is a bit stuck and one of the blades on the compressor wheel is broken. There was oil leak on the oil sump which I fixed. Now I ordered new turbo cartridge but few of the turbo repair guys told me that they don't repair turbo for 1.6 hdi as more likely engine problem cause the turbo failure. I just don't want to fit the new turbo if there is a problem which will break it again. If you have an idea what could be the problem with the engine please advise me. Thanks

hi dobi, i must worn you i am no mechanic!lol. it is inportant to change all hose going to the turbo as well as the turbo. The hose feeding oil to turbo has a tiny filter inserted to the end of it, this becomes blocked generally because of dirty oil, this causes the turbo to spin backwards and shatter the shaft. It is hard to find a refurb tubo because it is hard to balance prop but they are available, it is also impossable to find a new turbo with a garantee because of engine fault. like i say i am not a mechanic, i had a new turbo fitted and 1000 miles later it blew again! a local mechanic did some research befor fitting the second one and descovered this problem with the filter and so far and 6000 miles later all is good! A turbo plus the hose and new filters and oil etc cost me 12000 incuding labour to give you some idea of what it might cost you.

The problem is with the service history ie not changing it often enough, and incorrect oil.
Just to confirm the turbo cannot spin backwards.
The first time the turbo went this engine had failed. This problem is totally preventable if service reccommendations and correct oil spec is adhered to.
