An appeal from a newbie...
Apologies in advance if I have done this wrong but this is the first forum I have joined..! The clutch in my daughters 2002 1.9D Partner recently disintegrated and in doing so damaged one or both of the crankshaft sensor magnets mounted in the flywheel. We are struggling to track down a source for these magnets which are mounted in diametrically opposed keyways in the flywheel. Her Pug dealer first supplied the wrong magnets, then claimed that her car wasn't fitted with these..! My local dealers told me that these are factory fitted in the flywheel and we will have to purchase a new flywheel (£260 + vat..!!) Has anybody got any ideas on where we might source these elusive items? Thanks in advance for any guidance. |

To be honest, there is no such thing.
Is it the pickup sensor on top of the gearbox thats damaged?

Many thanks for prompt response. No, the pick up on top of the gearbox casing is fine. The garage working on it insists that these are magnets mounted in the flywheel which the sensor senses ie as the flywheel spins; a bit like a cycle computer. I'm going to talk to them again later today but I have a horrible feeling these 'magnets' are part of the flywheel and we will have to replace the whole thing. In that case, we may be advertising the Pug in the classified section for parts..! I'll let you know the outcome...

There are no magnets. All there is on the flywheel are little cut outs in the circumference of it.
The pickup sensor picks up from the cutouts and transfer it to you what you see on your rev counter. The engine needs to see this too for engine speed. You garage whoever they are, are WRONG!
