A noise like tappets, (it's not tappets, just sounds like them), comes from the engine on my expert van. Now, if the belt from the alternator and ps pump is removed, the noise goes away, the alternator is two weeks old and moves freely. Is this a sign of a failing ps pump? The steering is slightly heavier than it was and the ps pump gets hot, which I suppose to some extent is normal. Any ideas?
