Key code problem...

Hi Everyone

I've had my year 2000 1.9 270 Boxer for 3 years without a days problem.....until now!
The key code light is staying on sometimes and the van obviously won't start while it is on. I've tried a new key but it's still the same! Is there a way to bypass the immobiliser as main dealers just want to replace the immobiliser system and charge a small fortune. As it's a pretty basic design I assume its a fuel solenoid mounted somewhere that just needs rewiring into the ignition.
Can anybody help or point me in the right direction?
I'm in Heathfield, East Sussex.
