Hi
I have a 2007 Partner 1.6hdi car and it needs new front discs and pads. I intend changing these myself, (money is tight at the moment). My question to you all is, do the discs just knock off the hub after removing the wheel and the two little retaining screws or do I have to mess around with the undoing the wheel bearing ? many thanks in advance Last edited by brass do do; 07-09-2011 at 07:33 PM. |

Once you have removed the wheel you will have to undo the brake caliper bolts, then move the caliper off to one side and suspend it from the suspension spring coil with a bit of wire.
Put a good screwdriver in the little screws and give it a firm clout with a hammer, this shocks the threads and makes it easy to undo. Once you have removed these screws the brake disc just pulls off (may need a bit of gentle persuasion with said hammer). You do NOT have to touch the wheel bearings. |

thanks for your helpful reply,
I also have further question, whats the best way to compress the pistons, as I have a ridge around the edge of the disc I need to get over. I will let you know how I get on when I tackle the job at the weekend. |

Well I have done it, took about an hour a side, and the only problem I really had was getting the piston pushed back in enough so I could get the new pads over the disc. Thanks for all your help, saved myself £££'s
