glow plug and temp fault, please help asap

Hi all

i have a problem with my 2001 partner 600 van, when to start it the other day but failed to start, spayed easy start, started but sounded very rougth, there no glow plug lamp and the temp gauge did not move after having it running for half hour! check all fuse in the engine bay and under driver dash all fine, started looking at the glow plugs so change them still no joy then moved on to the glow plug relay, there are two wire one for the permant live and another for live that heats the plugs up, the permant live is there but no live for the glow plugs, open the relay box and press down on the contack tha makes the live for the glow plug to heat up and worked fine started on the button so i replaced the relay with a new one as well as change the temp sensor but still no joy, back to square one! could any one please help really stuck and don't know what to do next! ?

Hmm..The relay is working but its not getting the feed to activate it...
If the temp sensor was faulty maybe it would think the engine is up to temp inturn it would not look to activate the glow plugs....

I think it will need to go for a diagnostic check and see if the temp sensor
is reading correctly.....where are you based as some members maybe able to help out...

Hi had it put on the computor but could not talk to the engine ecu, talk to body ecu and keep coming up coolant temp sensor fault and comnnication error, put new temp sensor but code will not clear i am based in enfield, i need this sorted asap it a pain in the arse lol thanks

Sounds like the engine ecu has gone ga ga or a wiring problem...
Is it running o.k. when you do get it started...??
Did you hit any floods in the last while..??

when it running it runs fine, no floods think it may be a wireing faul but where do u start! thanks

What diagnostic equip was the van checked with...??

will get it for you for tomorrow, scanner we used was snap on modis and texa txt, i put a split pin in the temp plug to see if the gauge moved but nothing and the switch is new and fuse is ok, when plug on the machine and when in to setting we could prob the gauge and glow plug light and both work but only overiding it useing the scanner! thanks

So you actuated the glow plug light and the temp sensor gauge in the
bsi and it worked....hmm it is looking like the engine ecu is faulty but i'm not totally sure..
When i get the vin from you i'll see can i send you the electrical drawings for the glow plug relay to ecu and the temp sensor to ecu....

the light come on and the gauge working but only when u bypass it useing the scanner! feck up one lol, got the dude vin vf35bwjyf60353152 thanks
