Hi everyone,
I know your probably all thinking "not another HDI loss of power post" but this one is slightly different to the rest I've read. 2002 2.0 HDI 110bhp Expert :- performs fine until it hits 70mph then it feels like the turbo cuts out and struggles to pull, it will however accelerate to 90mph (eventually down hills etc). Every now and then I will get a very slight boost but it is very subtle. It will then perform like a non-turbo vehicle until I switch off the ignition. Once I restart it, it will perform fine until I hit 70mph again then exactly the same happens. I've read about MAF, EGR, Blocked CATs etc - any idea what to do first? Thanks in advance guys and gals. PS: if any police officers are reading this I want it to go over 70mph for when I take it on track days.....

yeah those track days are awesome
![]() anyways back to topic, do you get any warnings coming up on the dash by any chance? how many miles has the vehicle done? (if you dont mind me asking) and when was the vehicle last serviced, such like oil and filter, fuel filter etc etc? sorry for asking so many questions but it helps us narrow it down for you

Hi cck2k9,
Thanks for the reply, the vehicle has 96k, full documented service history and last serviced in December. No warning lights illuminated on the dash. |

ok from that i would say your next step would to get the vehicle hooked up to a planet system either at a dealership or holder. holders can be found by clicking the planet map link in "bettyswollocks" signiture. with this a full diag can point out what the actual fault is

Update on this one.
I had the van wiped of fault codes and drove it to 70mph where it loses power as per usual. Had the ECU read for faults again and code 0246 Pressure converter: boost pressure control. deviation. Turbo wastegate valve circuit, pressure too low The garage swapped the EGR valve for another one on the van which is identical but the problem is still there and still throwing up the same fault code as soon as it hits 70mph. The garage now said that it could be anything from vacuum valves to the ECU and could be an expensive game of trial and error. Does anyone have any ideas or tests how to narrow down what is causing this or would Peugeot Dealers have equipment which could pin point this fault. All the turbo pipes etc have been tested and checked and are all ok. Also worth noting that the power is lost hitting 70mph whether in 4th or 5th gear. If under load it is reduced to about 60mph. i would say its a sensor issue like the boost or maf sensor...
test you maf by disconnecting it and driving and seeing if you get the same, if not thats fine. ps. your maf is the wires connected near your air filter box and connected to the pipe.

hello mate
i have a expert 90ps that had same fault basically if you drove it real steady it would be sort of ok , but if you gave it some welly it would flik the k light on at around 70 & throw up po 246 fault code it had a blocked cat on it which basically makes the map sensor detect an over boost so selects limp home mode as soon as it does i have had a few other vehicle with the same sort of faults detecting over boosts due to excesive back pressure & selecting limp home mode , i cant promise it is defo that on your vehicle but it is a good starting point to disconect the cat or decat it all to gether , hope that is some help !!! |
