Hi all,
The clutch pedal on my van is staying down when pressed... Ive had a new cable fitted by a garage but the problem is still there, any ideas ? Id like to get some idea of what might be wrong before i go back to the garage, who incidentally, claim to have repaired it twice ! cheers in advance Anthony ![]() *quick edit* If I pop the bonnet I can manually *reset* the pedal by pulling on the lever at the end of the clutch cable which solves the problem for a short while. |

As the cable has been replaced, you can rule that out. Back in the mists of time Fiat 131 (mirifiori) used to do the same thing. The problem was solved by taking the return spring off the pedal and throwing it away! Another vehicle which suffered thes symptoms was the mk2 Cavalier, the pedal used to seize on the shaft. That was fixed by removing the nut on the end of the shaft. You should certainly check the pedal end first before getting involved in taking the gearbox out.
