Bonnet release cable snapped at mechanism!

Hi, if you haven't seen my previous post, my bonnet release cable has snapped and I cant open the bonnet. After fishing around, it's now apparent that the cable has snapped off at the mechanism end, which I can feel my way around to a degree from underneath the car. Any ideas how I can go about opening the bonnet from under there? Surely there is a method? Im at my wits end with this!

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

In fact, if anyone could possibly take some pictures of a mechanism from various angles, i may be able to do something with that? I know that's a lot to ask, but im seriously stuck!
