Fitted new battery about 2 months ago and everything was fine apart from loosing radio code. Patially removed radio to get code number off it and heard a few click and whirrs of relays etc even though ignition was off and no keys in ignition. when I came to start van it now cranks over but will not start. Not getting glow plug or engine management light to come on when key is turned. Checked fuses in both fuses boxes all OK. removed dash to check lamps for the glow plug and engine lights are ok and they are. any ideas on what to try next. really wished I'd not bothered with the radio now !!!

Van finally going again.Got a nice chap to look at van. His laptop would not even connect to the onboard computer. He ended up checking the 3 multiplugs connected to the bottom of theECU. On the plug nearest to the driver he found one of the permenant earths was not earthed. Engine bay wiring loom opened up and eventually found a broken wire where the loom crosses over the side of the gearbox. Reconnected the broken wire and van started first go.
apperntly fiddling with the radio was just coincedental hope this might help someone else. |
