Haven't got a clue to be honest, last toyota i worked on was a starlet back at college in 1992
There must be something out there, but i reckon it's something to do with the vvti. May be worth checking the cambelt is ok just incase it's messing around with the cam timing. Not sure of the setup on these, but the renault vvti can be a right pig.

No belt on the VVTi. Chain.
Why did the mechanic change the coils, seems a massive waste of time and money (more so)
Does your engine burn oil?

Well he said 2 coil packs were the fault but he recommended I change all four. Didnt fix it so ended up going to see toyota. But is that right, should you change all four coil packs if two are faulty. I would of thought just change the ones that are faulty.

Coil packs would only be faulty if they were misfiring. You would only change the one that has failed not all four.
If the car was misfiring then you would know so as it would be massively down on power.

What did Toyota say?

Air flow sensor and air inlet valve....thats all, never fixed it.....

In with another toyota garage, was told they have a better mechanic, Ive yet to hear from them.....

What you reading it with mate , i have a lead and copy of toyota software i`ll throw in the car you can borrow .

Dont know what the local mechanic uses but he charged £50. I presume toyota are using the dealer diagnostic tool.....

No idea. The mechanic its in with now reckons its the exhaust manifold.....

Car finally fixed. It was the inlet exhaust manifold.....
