Default Sluggish Avensis, what do you make of this

Ok 2003 Avensis 1.8 vvti has been sluggish. Took to mechanic who put it on the computer, said two of the ignition coil packs were faulty, he recommended all four be changed. He couldnt tell me which two were faulty, I would of thought they would of been numbered or some way to tell which were faulty.

Anyway took car back and got the four coil packs and changed them myself. Still sluggish.

So what now, mechanic said defo the coil packs....

Watch the CAT in these as it could be dumping unspent petrol in to it .

If it is, how do I get it out of it. It was taken to the toyota cars and they put it on the computer and said it was in the inlet valve, replaced but made no difference. This is actually my dads car, something else was replaced but cant remember, ill ask him when I see hime.

Not sure what else we could tackle.....

Nope, o2 sensor changed, no difference. Thats spark plugs, 4 ignition coil packs, air flow sensor, air inlet valve all changed and no difference.

All filters done aswell.

Been over with my local toyota garage and thats who advised the air flow sensor and air inlet valve be changed.

Have taken it over to another toyota garage whos supposed to have a better mechanic. Dad tells me diagnostic scanners are only as good as the man using them....lol...

Possibly MAF or injectors.
How do you mean sluggish?
Is it at all speeds / revs?
Get the fuel pressure checked too.

Could also be something to do with the variable valve timing so check the cam pulleys and belt too

No haynes manual exists for the 03 toyota avensis 1.8 vvti. Is there anything at all available, online workshop manual, wiring diagrams, etc....
