Or maybe a bit faster than a Peugeot 407 with 146 bhp and 280 ft/lbs of torque.
![]() Still, not bad for a 1.6. ![]() All a bit compromised by no longer having ideal gear ratios. Last edited by Bird dog; 08-02-2011 at 01:10 PM. |

Thinking about getting my 206 1.6hdi 110 Quicksilver remapped - have been told that i'll get another 25-30 bhp and 30lb/ft. All sounds great.
Are there any drawbacks of such mod? Will the added power significantly reduce the life of my turbo, gearbox, clutch etc? I'm not the type to do standing wheelspins. Other concern is my DPF - with more power, will this clog up quicker? |

get your dbf removed...and remapped to suit, will help the engine breathe more easily.
remapping your engine, apparently reduces the life of such items you have said...but yet to be reported by people.

Remaps just make it easier to use the power and torque that you originally had without the remap. DMFs, for one example, are individually fitted to a car with a given torque output. So, for example, the 90bhp 1.6 hdi will have a different rated DMF to the 110bhp 1.6 hdi (different part number). If you apply the torque of the 110bhp hdi to the 90bhp hdi's DMF the chances are that you will compress the internal springs in the DMF to the point where they end up fully compressed for most of the time. This the DMF doesn't like and it's the reason why so many go bang early in their life when cars are either remapped or driven hard. It's sometimes hard to believe that power and torque are being transmitted to your wheels via what is essentially a spring! Last edited by Bird dog; 09-19-2011 at 01:35 AM. |

The 'box on the 206 HDi isn't as robust as the version of the ML used on later cars, and there are stories of them failing spectacularly on tuned 206 diseasels.
Interesting story - the 206 GTi 180 was originally going to use the 2.2 EW engine, so would've been a grunty, silken monster. Unfortunately, the ML box required to manage the torque wouldn't fit without metalwork changes to the cars structure, so the lower torque EW10 was used with the olde (BE?) box. And that's also why the diesel 206 has to make to with an older generation gearbox, and they just won't safely handle much more than standard power.
