Default What do these buttons do?

Hi all.

I've just bought a 1990 405 Mi16 4x4 and it is a fantastic car but i've noticed some strange looking buttons in the handbrake area. These buttons don't get mentioned in the hand book but on the passenger side there are two buttons with arrows on them and on the drivers side it is one button with two arrows and a cross through it.

Anyone know what they do?

Thanks
John
