Roofracks on 1997 306 3 Door Hatch

Hi there,
I own a 1997 306 3 Door hatch which is just a fantastic little beastie!

I recently purchased a set of second hand factory roof racks and am struggling to work out how to fit them.

for the front rack, I see that if I peel the rubbers back from around the roof line I can fit the tang (for want of a better word) that hangs below the foot pad against the body. When I tighten the hex key at the top everything tightens up nicely, but the roof rack can still be removed with a gentle tug.

The rear one, I'm not even sure about this at all. Do the trim strips that go above the rear windows and the roof pop out?

Once installed, do the racks get bolted/screwed to the body? The tangs do have holes in them
