i own a 1996 peugoet 806 1.9 turbo diesel, and when i go over 55 mph the car starts to shake through the steering wheel too but feels like its coming form the passenger side, if i increase speed the shake goes away but if i took my foot away the shake gets worse its quite bad, any ideas???

Have you had the wheels balanced?
You may have lost a balance weight at some point. |

That'd be my first stop then, get them balanced and see if it improves it at all.
The balance isn't something that will be picked up on an MOT but if there was anything wrong with the suspension or wheel bearings then the MOT tester should've picked up on it |

Try changing the wheel from one side to the other to see if the fault comes with it.

Had a similar problem with my 806, mine used to shake the steering / dash when pulling hard uphill, nailed it down to soft engine mounts. If all else fails it might be worth checking.
