How to tune up a 106 1.1 engine?

I'd like to ask if someone have tuned Peugeot 106 1.1 litres engine (TU1M)? It is quite weak with 40 hp, but can it make stronger? From where should I start? I feel that changing the whole engine to 1.4 litres would be cheaper... Now I have to speed up to 7000 rpm and it feels like I'm driving with a moped (and the fifht gear in the gearbox is like brand new, I've never used it even on motorway).

Ok. I thought first a small motorcycle turbo, but the price, about 1000e + other works e.g. exhaust, is twice as used 1.4 litres engine. And how my tiny motor will handle turbo's extra power is mystery.

Edit. It is quite hard to find any tuning guides to the 1.1 litres engine, when all guides (what I have found) are to 1.4/1.6 litres engine

to be honest trying to tune a 1.1 would be a waste of your money,if you can get a 1.4 that would be a better engine to work on,also you would see some pretty impressive gains.

By the way, why motorcycle engines have so much hp's; for example Yamaha YZF-R1 998cc engine about 180hp. It is four or five time more comparing to my Peugeot engine (which is even 100cc bigger). And I think that these Yamaha engines run at same 7000 rpm too. Do the motorcycle engines have then less torque? I don't actually know, how much the mc engines consume fuel, but my car take's about 8-9 L/100km (includes 1/2 city driving)

Dont really know enough about motor bikes to comment,but i think they run at higher revs more often also they work through the gears a lot faster and obviously they weigh a lot less than a car.

if you dont wish to spend a lot but you want a little more performance do this.

warm the car up,
remove the spark plugs and pour about a mouthful of REDEX into each plug hole.
Remove your air filter, clean out your airbox with a lightly petrol soaked rag.
fit a new clean air filter.

Wait for about 45 minutes and re-fit some new, correctly gapped spark plugs.

start the car up, it wont start immediately but it will start.
when it does start it will smoke profusely from the exhaust.
Dont be alarmed by this, its just years of carbon crap thats been dissolved by the redex leaving the engine. Take the car down a quiet road and cane it a bit.
The first time i did this I thopught the car was smioking so bad that something bad must have happened, not the casae.
After about a mile or so you will notice the amount of smoke is less, continue razzing it about until there is no excess smoke from the exhaust.
take the car home. You will notice on the way that the car feels quicker in every gear.
once you get home reove the plugs again, another squirt of redex into each plug hole. leave for another 45 mins. re-insert plugs, then pour the remainder of the redex into the fuel tank. take the car out for a blast as before. hey presto its quicker and faster than it was the day before.
put redex in your fuel everytime you fill up (using the instructions on the bottle now) your car will run sweet as a nut

you could try fitting a bigger throttle body, port match inlet manifold to the inlet manifold gasket also port the inlet port entrance to the inlet manifold gasket and finish the port off in 80 grit paper marks,
port match exhaust manifold headers to the exhaust manifold gasket and the same with the exhaust port, 4>2>1 exhaust manifold and down pipes, bigger inside diameter exhaust along its length
