Advice sought on 406 Diesel

Hi,
Can anyone tell me if a 1999 Diesel 406GLX DT(2088cc) would have 'Hydraulic tappets'?
If not what ?

Great cars, last a long time. Good sturdy engine with high performance.
Fuel economy is excellent. Might go for a Coupe next though.

i would have thought so on a car thats relatively new. have you got a clicking noise coming from the top of the engine? especially when the car is cold?
