Hello
Our 2001 806 2.0hdi (DW10ATED4) has just developed a serious case of exhaust fumes inside the car. The exhaust system is in good order & laying under the car with a torch I cannot see any evidence of smoke around the exhaust manifold etc. However from the top of the engine exhaust gas can clearly be seen coming from the back of the engine roughly in line with the #1 injector. Looking at my workshop manual, I wonder if it could be the egr valve or an associated pipe, but I don't want to start ripping things apart unnecessarily. I am posting here in case there is a common issue with these engines as they get older. Any ideas appreciated.

Could be EGR, but never heard of it. Check the oil filler and dipstick are both sealing properly.

Car now fixed.
I wasn't the egr valve, the exhaust gasses were blowing passed the #2 injector, removed injector refitted with new seal, all good .
