Go to the BBC news website, and have a look at the aerial view....very, very scary looking...lot of completely burned out jeeps, containers etc.....shocking stuff.

That's just killed the Tory plans for a motorway limit hike to 80.

Very sad news....they mention bad visibility.....I dont know about raising the speed limit, but people could try slowing down if they cant see !!!

I would bet my money on a lorry driver on the phone when driving to blame...I always see them with their phone planted on their ears, one hand on steering wheel and on paying attention..

But at the same time I would also blame the person in front for probably not having their fog lights on, they use them when its clear and turn them off when foggy...

There is a lot of speculation at this point, so who knows the true cause, and more to the point, if we will ever really know.... I can't see how the investigators will be able to find the cause with so much damage afterwards.

No problem in raising the speed limit, but as tiptronic said... they should just slow down if they can't see..... goes for any speed limit/conditions really!

I wonder how many of you are old enough to remember the old TV add only a fool breaks the 2 second rule, I have the heads up display that tells you how many seconds away you are, and I have been amazed at how long a gap that is at 60 plus. I think that gap or rather lack of it plays a large part in a lot of accidents.

The problem is, if you leave a big enough gap, there's always some silly bastard wants to pull into it.

What really bugs me is when your driving along and theres a big load of traffic in front , (talking about just main roads) , so you back off a bit then some dick passes you and pulls in in front but can`t go anywhere , why not just stay behind me you knob you`re going nowhere.
