Default A Mates Ibiza FR

Now then everybody, I've took it upon myself to advise my mate to wire in footwell strip lights, and so we did.

We tore the car apart trying to find lights that come on with the sidelights. In the end we wired them into the ciggy lighter (which he blew straight away when the keys were in accessory position).

Then we've realised these strips aren't going out. His Ciggy Lighter is permanent live.

2 things..

Will this ever lead to battery drainage?

and is there an option in diagnostics to change ciggy lighter from permanent live to only when the car is on?

ASAP folks!

It'll be hard wired that. The wire you want is one of the ones at the back of the stereo. There should be 2 heavy wires, one perm live and a switched one.

Haha we did better! I had a brainwave

I cut the switch out of a lamp of mine, and connected it to the permanent live for the ciggy lighter. I then fed the switch into his cubby hole.

See attachment 1 for the wiring.

The part that is taped up with red insulating tape is the connection from the car to the switch. The bit with the terminal block is the switch to the ciggy lighter plug and the footwell lights.

the other attachments show the switch in the cubby hole. He's going to surprise his lass with them lol!

Took us a while, but dead chuffed in the end
