I saw few such cases few days ago, a guy was selling motor oil for 1123 EUR, but when i checked the purchase history, it was like 123EUR, so my theory in the end was, he doesnt have any more of those items, but doesnt want to close the auction and thus avoid paying for listing price once he restocks... so he only changes price to something insane... does that make sense? :P

Or else those people are the smartest people in the world... eps if he sells 21 of those

That's exactly it. Dixons did the same a while ago for a tablet they didn't want to sell but wanted to advertise.

currys style (dixons ltd) is to say yeah you can have it on ads for a good price...but heres the clincher...its never in stock and no-one knows when its coming in, even management...but since you are there you might want a similar device for a little more or less...still money to them.

well thats what my branch did when i worked there as customer services
