Default Diesel Fuel

Ive just taken a trip through UK, France and Spain,
The difference in diesel fuel prices is ridiculous, The UK 1.40-1-50 pound a litre, France 1.35-1.45 euros, Spain 1.25-1.35 euros. what happened to North sea oil?

Isn't it more to do with VAT and duty as opposed to the raw cost of the product?

North sea oil is a Top grade Sweet oil , more suitable for refining down into high grade lubrication. We Import Raw crude as this is tack that is split down into Gasoline / Diesel products . It is doubtful wether you ever stuck a North Sea product in your tank !!

This is why:

If you pay 130p for a litre of unleaded petrol or diesel then the breakdown would be something like this:

per litre
Excise Duty - 59p
VAT - 21.7p
Oil Company - 44.3p
Retailer - 5p

So 81pence pl for tax man.
44ppl for producer
5ppl for seller (of which up to 3ppl will be operating costs)

60l tank = £48 to the tax man
